I am not usually a big fan of new year’s resolutions. Around January time for the past 5 years I’ve been super busy with exams and too busy to focus on a difficult new year’s resolution.
This year I am going to try the veganuary challenge. The idea of going vegan for a month is crazy if you see my diet but it will be interesting to see if I can stick to it.
Here are some other new year’s resolution ideas for those that need some inspiration:
Spend more time on a hobby
A good idea for 2017 is to spend more time on a hobby which could include picking up or learning a new skill such as baking or coding. Have a read of my article on hobbies for some inspiration here.
Stop doing something you find negative in your life
This is a big category that a lot of new year’s resolutions fall under.
You could – stop smoking, stop eating certain foods (e.g. meat), stop drinking alcohol, *insert bad habit that you want to stop here* etc.
Start focusing on your long term goals
Want a new job? Set this as a new year’s resolution to get your dream job or at least start to work towards getting your dream job.
Want to set up your own business? Create a business plan and implement it.
Want to be more happy/peaceful in yourself? Focus on ways to achieve this – do meditation, go to therapy sessions, spend more time with friends etc.
Don’t just change for the new year
You can set goals any time in the year. New year’s is a great time because you get a lot of support form your network but don’t forget that you can decide in February that it is your goal to save up and travel the world or to go to the gym 3 times a week. 🙂
It would be interesting to know what others think of new year’s resolutions, what new year’s resolutions others have and if you stick to them?
